Though customers can’t ignore the whirr of construction tools, the doors are wide open to Canyon Country customers at the new SCV Home Trends on Soledad Canyon Road. The building, which is near Citibank, is also adjacent to several vacant store spaces, where residents should be seeing other new businesses crop up soon.

“Eclectic” is the one-word description of merchandise in SCV Home Trends, says owner Alicia Seibert. “We travel to gift shows looking for the most unique items. We also look for great values so that we can share it with our customers.”

An example of the store’s pricing comes from some furniture on the floor. A sectional sofa set is selling for $497, while a mini sectional sofa is priced at $247. “Most of the furniture we had we sold in the first weekend we were open,” says Seibert.

Formerly just an Internet shopping site, Seibert moved the business into the storefront just over a month ago. Its warm beige walls and open wood ceiling make a fashionable frame for the rows and rows of Christmas decorations, ceramic novelty items and wall hangings. Merchandise ranged from square silver wedding cake stands to faux floral decor and neon Christmas trains.

“How about a 14-inch resin fire hydrant?” asks Seibert, pointing out the resin St. Bernard, perched in position, to go with it. “We sell more wall art than anything…we have a large selection of clocks, as well.”
